CONGRATULATIONS TO HELEN ZIMIC

Gow Gates Services to the Sport (Dressage) winner, Helen Zimic with Bert Clarke.
Helen is a very deserving winner of this award. For those of you who aren't aware of her services to dressage, I will list just a few. Helen has been an active member of the Manning Valley Dressage club for many years, some say that for several years she ran it single handedly and without her the club would no longer exist.
She is also the area delegate and is our line of communcation to the Dressage Council, and it is said that it was due to her committment that the State Championships were held in Taree.
and most importantly.... she is still riding, still competing, still bringing young horses on... she is truly an inspiration for us all.
AND MORE ON HELEN
At our last competition, those of us who were there were treated to a wonderful sight, Helen competing on her beautiful horse Hajra Marac. About 2 and a half years ago Marac developed Cushings disease and was so ill that every day for 6 months Helen wondered whether it would be kinder to have him put down. However he responded well to the chemotherapy drugs and has been enjoying a rest in the paddock for quite a while.
However Helen needed a horse to ride at our competition, and much to Marac's obvious delight he was brought out of retirement. It was said that he looked so happy, his ears flicking back and forth all day with the sheer delight of being out again. So congratulations to both Helen and Marac.
